About the client
Marton Catering runs The Ashville Steakhouse, a steakhouse restaurant in Southville near Bristol. Its menu is built around generous, freshly grilled steaks served on boards with all the classic sides.
The Director had a clear vision for growing the restaurant. What was missing was the funding to make it happen.

The challenge
Marton Catering contacted us in early June 2026, needing funding to grow the business. Because of past financial history, the Client was finding it very hard to raise finance through traditional routes.
Like many hospitality businesses, a strong day-to-day trading performance was not reflected in what mainstream lenders look at. The Client needed a funder willing to back the business as it trades today.
Our approach
We secured an initial Merchant Cash Advance from one of our Funding Partners. The amount was smaller than the Client needed, but it gave the business a helpful boost.
The real value of that first advance was the relationship it built. By repaying smoothly through card takings, the Client showed our Funding Partner how well the business trades. That track record opened the door to further support.
The results
Since early June 2026, we have supported the business with two further Cash Advances, three in total by November 2026.
- Early July 2026First Merchant Cash AdvanceA helpful start and a new relationship with our Funding Partner
- Mid September 2026Second Merchant Cash AdvanceFurther investment in growth
- Late October 2026Third Merchant Cash AdvanceContinued expansion of the business
The extra funding has radically changed the business. The Director invested every advance wisely, and the steakhouse has grown remarkably in a short time.
Why a Merchant Cash Advance worked
A Merchant Cash Advance is based on a business’s card takings, not just its credit history. That made it the right fit for a busy restaurant with a past that held back traditional lending.
- Repayments flex with trade: a small share of card sales goes to repayment, so quieter days cost less.
- Built on performance: funders look at how the business trades today.
- Room to grow: a good track record can unlock further advances, as Marton Catering showed.
